Water Filtration

Water Quality          Water Filtration         Truth About Water         Chlorination & Fluorination

A reverse osmosis water filter with activated carbon pre-filters, plus an alkaline natural mineral cartridge, is what we believe to be the most thorough and cost effective way to have the highest quality drinking water. Each stage of a filtration system removes certain types of contaminants, and all stages combined should protect you and your family from just about every contaminant.

GRANULAR ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER CARTRIDGES

The carbon in our filters is a highly-porous, absorbent material that is produced by heating organic matter, such as coal, wood and coconut shell, in the absence of air, and is then crushed into granules.  Activated carbon is positively charged and therefore able to remove via absorption negative ions from the water including ozone, chlorine, fluorides, and dissolved organic.  The activated carbon must be replaced periodically, as it may become oversaturated and unable to function properly.  Activated carbon is not effective in removing heavy metals, lowering radon levels in water or the removal of some chemical contaminants including Volatile Organic Chemical (VOC's) and Trihalomethanes (THM's).

Reverse Osmosis Filtration

Reverse osmosis is a water treatment process that removes undesirable materials from water by using pressure to force the water molecules through a semi-permeable membrane.  Reverse osmosis water filtration systems can remove 90% of total dissolved solids (TDS) from water and can provide the purest water available for your home.

After filtration, the water needs to have minerals replaced, or it is essentially dead water with an acidic pH of 5-6. Some minerals added to water can affect this dissociation and recombining by ‘mingling’ with the H 2 O and ions. In the case of alkali earth metals such as calcium and magnesium, they influence the Dissociation Dance to fall out of balance and the water becomes more alkaline. Water that is alkaline (a pH over 7) is more healthful as it provides mineral assets to the body. While not all of these minerals are nutritionally available, they do indeed buffer acids.

The R/O water needs natural minerals reintroduced to it after all the contaminants and dissolved solids are removed for it to become alkaline. Typically R/O water is acidic having a pH level of 5-6. These filter systems specialize in removing chlorine taste and odor, rust, sediment, and also reduce or completely removing arsenic, asbestos, chromium, fluoride, lead, mercury, VOCs, THMs, giardia and cryptosporidium.
